We are excited to announce our new head coach, Jake Berry! Berry is the current associate head coach of Liberty University. His coaching journey also includes time at Campbell University and Belmont Abbey College.
Before his coaching career, Jake was a standout goalkeeper at Messiah University, contributing to three national championship victories. His experience as a player and coach brings a unique blend of strategy, resilience, and a championship mindset to our team.
"I am most excited about the opportunity to help the Lynchburg soccer community grow and unify. This includes bringing together local universities, youth clubs, and the many individuals in the area who love and have played the game. Soccer is more than a sport—it’s a means of connecting people, and I look forward to fostering those connections and creating a strong, united soccer culture in Lynchburg.
Lynchburg has been an incredibly welcoming community to me since I arrived in 2020 to coach at Liberty University. I care deeply about this place and its people. The community’s passion, involvement, and support will be the cornerstone of what we build at Lynchburg FC. The success of the club and its ability to grow will depend on the community’s engagement, and I am eager to give back by creating a team they can be proud of.
What’s most important to me is helping the players I work with grow into their full potential—both as athletes and as individuals. I want to instill values like teamwork, discipline, and resilience while providing them with tools to succeed on and off the field. I aim to create a space where players feel empowered to be their best selves and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth.
I am incredibly grateful to Carlos Munoz and Andy Ashcroft for believing in me and entrusting me with this role. Their vision for Lynchburg FC is inspiring, and I am fully committed to bringing that vision to life. Together, with the help of the players, staff, and community, I aim to make this team an example of excellence and unity for Lynchburg."
