UPSL Announces Michigan Expansion With Cedars FC

Dearborn, MI Based Club Joins UPSL Midwest Division Ahead Of Spring Season

March 11, 2021 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Cedars Football Club as its newest expansion club ahead of the 2021 Spring Season.

Based in Dearborn, MI, Cedars FC will begin UPSL play in the Midwest Conference. The club will host its home games at Fordson High School (13800 Ford Rd, Dearborn, MI 48126).

Dr. Ned Fawaz is the Founder and President of Cedars Football Club. Influential in the expansion of the game in Southeastern Michigan, Dr. Fawaz has developed several soccer clubs through the Dearborn Sports Enterprise Inc. Foundation, which provides financial support to promote youth sports in the region.


UPSL Midwest East Division Manager Robert Brinkman said, "We are excited to announce the addition of Cedars FC to the UPSL. We know that game is experiencing exponential growth in Michigan, especially with the younger players. Dr. Fawaz has been intrumental in that growth and it's a please to welcome him to the UPSL. We're thrilled to see the quality that Cedars FC bring to the league, and we wish the club success as it prepares for the Spring Season."

Mohamed Salman is the Head Coach. Ali Sabra is the Assistant Coach.

Salman, or "Coach Mo", has more than 30 years of coaching experience at the youth, club, high school and collegiate level.

"Joining the UPSL gives the players at Cedars FC an opportunity for exposure at the regional and national levels. We felt this was the right time to move into the UPSL to provide a very competitive environment for our younger players," Salman said.


Games are scheduled to begin May 1. The club will announce its fixture calendar in the coming weeks.

Cedars Football Club is an American Soccer club currently based in Dearborn, MI, and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. Cedars FC will begin play in the UPSL's Midwest Division.

Founded in 1982, Cedars FC can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
