February 24, 2021 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Charlotte United as its newest expansion club ahead of the Spring Season.
Based in Charlotte, NC, Charlotte United will begin UPSL play in the Southeast Conference Mid-Atlantic North Division. The club will host its home games at Garinger High School (1100 Eastway Dr., Charlotte, NC 28205).
Rachid Fennich is the Owner and CEO of Charlotte United. John Jedra serves as the President. Hamza Bouhafra is the General Manager. Elio Mejia is the Head Coach.
UPSL Vice President Christian Vallejos said, "This is the beginning of a new era for the Mid-Atlantic Division with the addition of Charlotte United, and we are excited to welcome Rachid Fennich and his club to the Southeast Conference. Obviously, Charlotte United is a strong brand in a great market but the club has the muscle to back it up. We wish them success as they prepare to make their UPSL debut this spring."
Charlotte United was created in 2018 and has previous experience in local leagues and various Washington D.C.-based tournaments. Charlotte United now will compete exclusively in the UPSL.
"One of our objectives at Charlotte United is to develop players to their highest potential, ultimately advancing them to the next level of soccer while providing opportunities for selection to Olympic Development Programs and for players to earn a scholarship and get recognized by college coaches," Fennich said. "Charlotte United players will compete in local, regional, national, and even international competitions to expose players to all levels of play as well as different styles and philosophies."
The club will announce its game schedule in the coming weeks.

Charlotte United is an American Soccer club currently based in Charlotte, NC, and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. Charlotte United will play in the UPSL's Mid-Atlantic North Division.
Founded in 2018, Charlotte United can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
