December 23, 2020 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Sporting Wichita as its newest expansion club ahead of the 2021 Spring Season.

Based in Wichita, KS, Sporting Wichita will begin UPSL play in the Midwest Conference South Division. The club will soon announce its home training and game venue.

Founded as Wichita Rojos in 2002, Sporting Wichita has grown into one of the largest youth soccer clubs in Kansas. The youth academy currently features more than 40 teams and 600-plus players.

UPSL Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "We are excited to welcome the Sporting Wichita senior team to the UPSL's Midwest Conference. Growth into new markets has been a staple of the UPSL's expansion plan since the league's start. Sporting Wichita has proven itself as a developer of young talent and now they're ready to take the next step to continue to challenge their players. We look forward to seeing the club's talent on the field in 2021 and wish them well in their preparations for their UPSL debut."

Sporting Wichita is a MLS Academy affiliate of Sporting KC and offers a multi-tiered youth soccer development program for players ages 3 to 19, and will now offer the vertical integration between the Academy and the UPSL team.

Sporting Wichita is planning open tryouts from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. CT on Jan. 16-17 at Stryker Stadium for its UPSL team. For more information and to sign up go to www.sportingwichita.net. "Being able to offer our players an option to play beyond our regular club program is something we've been striving for, and our board is happy to see that effort and planning be put into action. The end goal for our semi-professional program is for the club leadership and coaching staff to enable talented players who work hard and guide those players toward opportunities to play in different environments that challenge them beyond the norm. It's our hope that this move is a springboard to draw top talent and ultimately guide our players to compete at the highest levels," Sporting Wichita Academy Executive Director Daniel Fiszel said.

Donna Sibaai is Club Manager. Qaies Alamood is Club Director. Tommy Fiszel, Dallas Fiszel and Edo Geromel and First Team Coordinators.
